Join the White Pencil 2025 as a volunteer!

CZU will once again join the nationwide White Pencil 2025 collection supporting people with visual impairments, and we are looking for student volunteers for 13–15 October 2025. Sign up, experience the unique atmosphere, and help make a real difference.

From 13–15 October 2025, the 26th annual nationwide White Pencil collection will take place, supporting services for people with visual impairments. As in the previous year, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague will actively participate in this event in cooperation with the University Counselling Centre.

The collection is organised by the United Organisation of the Blind and Partially Sighted of the Czech Republic, together with Tyfloservis and regional TyfloCentres. The proceeds help to finance services that significantly improve the quality of life for people with visual impairments – such as guide dog training, mobility and orientation training, Braille instruction, and assistive technology use.

For a voluntary contribution of CZK 30, donors will receive the collection’s symbol – a white pencil. Donations can be made in cash to the collection boxes, electronically via a QR code, or by sending a donation text message (DMS).

Why the White Pencil?
The first collection took place in year 2000 and was the very first large-scale public fundraiser in the Czech Republic focused on supporting people with visual impairments. The date is no coincidence – it coincides with the International White Cane Day (15 October), a symbol of independence and orientation for blind people.

At CZU, there are also students and staff members with visual impairments. The Office for Students with Special Needs at the University Counselling Centre helps students find ways to ensure equal access to education and provides the support they need.

Helping together makes a difference
In 2024, more than 3,400 volunteers took part in the collection, raising over CZK 5 million. We believe that this year we can surpass that amount – and that thanks to you, CZU students and volunteers, the collection will have an even greater impact.
