The University Counselling Centre of the CZU (CPS) organised the second annual roundtable entitled "Safe Environment in counselling services at universities" on June 4, 2024.
The roundtable was prepared by the CZU in cooperation with the Association of University Counsellors and the Charles University and thematically responded to the recent events at the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University.
The content of the roundtable focused on issues related to psychosocial support of students and university staff, recognition of their possible psychological difficulties and appropriate responses to these problems. As part of the programme, the EmotionAid® method used to treat anxiety, stress and trauma was presented by Anna Vozková, Ph.D., the Head of the Office for Students with Special Needs at CPS. The roundtable also addressed the concept of security of universities in the context of the counselling centres, including the necessary activities of crisis interventionists.
The meeting contributed to the sharing of good practice and discussion on the needs of counselling centres, which have an important function in revealing the hidden causes and motives leading to crime. Counselling centres provide support in difficult work, study, and life situations and thus contribute to the creation of a healthy university environment.
The roundtable was attended by over 40 staff from colleges and universities across the country, including a representative of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Mgr. Karolína Gondková, Director of the Section on Higher Education.
